Fruits Slice Steamed Layered Cake & Decoupage Plates

material: white plates, serviette, mod podge, form brushes, Matt protection spray

Prepare a bowl of water, trim the serviette

Peel the serviette, only retain the printed ply.

Dip finger with some water and tap the serviette with wet finger onto the plate
picture is fixed onto the plate

Use foam brush, dip some mod podge and apply onto the picture. Let it dry (I wait until the second day to dry completely). Spray with matt protection.

Haha....

  23. You should save your steamed cake & make a different post becoz I'm sure that we all are distracted by your magic craft works! You are so "geng," so pandai loh!

These plates are so pretty! Big question here, so after putting a layer of glue, the pattern will stick there ah? What happen to the white part of the serviette that doesn't have pattern? How to get rid of it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jessie, I didn't do a good job on the steam cake thats why I have to use some distraction techniques..haha...

Yes, after applying the glue the pattern will stick on. I threw away the white part of the serviette. I know I know its a waste but what to do...

      Delete
    2. Oh, no, I didn't mean the other 2 layers of the plain serviette, I mean the white part that forms the edges around the pattern. You know I saw your photo which you cut out the pattern with little bit of the white edges, what happen to these edges? Will they be covered up after the glue has dried out & after applying the matt protection?

      Delete
    3. Oh sorry sorry I miss understood. Doesn't matter with the white part , it will settle onto the plate once u apply the mod podge. :)

  31. Hi Li Shuan

can i leave out the ovalette? will it affect the texture and taste?
I have tried a few steam cake recipe but turn out to be kueh-like texture.

Another question - you mentioned that have to beat the egg mixture longer. Can I know how long is enough? Thank u :-D

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The main purpose for ovalette here is to stabilize the cake, it doesn't matter if u can control n beat ur cake very well. The kuih like texture is because you haven't beat the egg mixture till they are thick enough.

It really depends on what mixer u r using. If u r using a bench top mixer it definitely save a lot of time. However handheld mixer the power is limited and u will need longer mixing time. Because this cake only using small amt of eggs, I beat my batter on medium speed for about 8 to 10 minutes on stand mixer.
